RANI VELU NACHIYAR – The Forgotten Queen
& Tamizh Warriors of Sivagangai

Blurb : Tamil Nadu, an ancient civilisation, a queen, women warriors, British India… From Pondicherry to Sivagangai, the Franco-Tamizh novelist takes readers into a little-known region of South India, where the struggle for independence was already taking shape.
Nearly three centuries later, Chilpa Devi follows in Rani Velu Nachiyar’s footsteps, travelling through the places where her story unfolded. Moving between past and present, she brings to light the Tamizh people who aspired to freedom and stood alongside their queen to defend her kingdom.
Inspired by historical events, the author’s third novel, Rani Velu Nachiyar, The Forgotten Queen, pays tribute to Tamizh heritage and to the women whose courage left its mark on history. This book is, above all, an act of remembrance.

I have chosen to translate the novel myself, so that I could preserve its voice, atmosphere and cultural identity. This English edition is particularly meaningful to me because it allows me to take this little-known chapter of Tamizh history beyond France and India, and to share it with readers around the world.
Writing is not simply about telling stories. For me, It is about remembering, transmitting and creating a bridge between cultures. Thank you to everyone who will help this story travel beyond borders. Chilpa Devi
A tip when ordering from Amazon : To avoid unnecessarily high international shipping costs, please make sure that you are shopping on the Amazon website for your own country.
When you open the book's Amazon page, check the country/region selected by Amazon and choose your country if necessary. This will ensure that Amazon displays the edition, price and delivery options applicable to your location.
For example, if you live in the UK, select Amazon.co.uk; if you live in Australia, select Amazon.com.au, and so on. This is particularly important because ordering through another country's Amazon store may result in much higher delivery charges.
I never dreamed of becoming a writer; writing simply found its way to me. After several qualifications and a
long career in office administration, I turned to writing as an outlet for my
creativity.
Born in Pondicherry to Franco-Tamizh parents and having lived in France for decades, I grew up between two cultures. I write to tell stories, to pass them on, and to give a voice to those whose stories deserve to be brought to light.
Your comments, feedbacks and reviews are always welcome.
With heartfelt thanks, Chilpa Devi
